Wimp is the Window Manager Protocol implementation: it owns RISC OS desktop windows, icons, menus, pointer/keyboard dispatch and task-to-task Wimp messaging. It is the foundational desktop service used by Filer, Pinboard, Switcher, TaskWindow, Toolbox and almost every GUI application; it reacts to memory/mode/resource changes so those clients see a consistent desktop.
