Quickstart Panel

PanelQuickstart

The Quickstart panel is designed to get you up and running with minimal configuration. It provides sensible defaults based on the Amiga model you select.

Main Options

Amiga Model

Select the physical Amiga model you wish to emulate (e.g., A500, A1200, CD32).

  • A500: Most common for older games and demos (OCS/ECS chipset).
  • A1200: Required for newer "AGA" titles.

Changing this selection automatically updates chipset, CPU, and RAM settings to match the original hardware.

Configuration

For each model, you can choose a specific preset configuration.

  • Example: The A500 defaults to a common expanded configuration (512KB Chip + 512KB Slow RAM).
  • Example: The A1200 defaults to a standard 2MB Chip RAM configuration.

Floppy Drives

The Amiga supports up to 4 floppy drives (DF0 to DF3). The most common configurations are 1 or 2 drives.

  • Eject/Insert: Click the button to load a floppy image (.adf, .ipf, .zip, etc.) or eject the current one.
  • Drive Type: Basic configuration for the drive mechanism. Defaults are usually sufficient.

WHDLoad Auto-boot

Unique to Amiberry, this section allows you to launch WHDLoad-installed games directly from .lha packages.

  • Insert an .lha file here to trigger the auto-detection mechanism.
  • Amiberry will look up the game in its database (WHDLoad-XML) and automatically apply the best known emulator settings for that specific title.

Other Settings

  • Start in Quickstart mode: If enabled, Amiberry opens this panel by default on startup. If disabled, it defaults to the Configurations panel.
  • Set Configuration: Immediately applies the settings selected in this panel (useful if you've made changes that haven't taken effect yet).
