This Google Play API gem is inspired by the desire to have something like Supermarket that doesn't require Java JARs under the hood. This incarnation uses LocalShred's protobuf implementation and the .proto definitions for Google Play discovered on the android-market-api Google Code project.
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
gem 'google_play_api'
And then execute:
$ bundle
Or install it yourself as:
$ gem install google_play_api
This gem was created for use by the Appygram service and so it currently prioritizes the things that Appygram cares about, like capturing reviews. Pull requests are welcome to expand on the features.
The protobuf gem currently requires binary protobuf 1.4.2 installed (brew install protobuf, sudo apt-get install protobuf) and is not yet compatible with 1.5. Homebrew at least will try to install 1.5. Workaround: brew uninstall protobuf; brew versions protobuf; then run the git command specified in the "brew versions" output to revert the formula to 1.4.2; brew install protobuf.
