Everything is handled in default file as intended for this init system. Also fixes gitlab:check output.
This has been bothering me for long enough.

Yarn did not support standard environment variables until very recently. How did I get this to work in the first place... yarnpkg/yarn#4849

Make sure it is setup before starting service as well.
Previous syntax was just broken and did not work at all. latest will require salt 2017.7 but will prevent requirement being satisfied by previously installed released on formula update.
