I want to do a series of "how to do open source" blog posts, and this could be one of them: basically the differences between traditional corporate/closed-source product design and management and the open source way of working.
Points to cover:
- Radical transparency: working in the open by default
- PRDs and RFCs
- Roadmaps and long-term planning
- Decision-making: lazy consensus vs. voting
- Public working groups
- Upstream vs. downstream
Some of this will also tie into my work on defining the RFC process for ROOST, but I want it to help product teams learn how to work with open source. And ROOST. :)
