Reasons for the request
I am requesting a manual override of the project-name similarity check so that
I can register and publish tlgr.
Creating a Pending Trusted Publisher is currently rejected with:
This project name is too similar to an existing project
The conflict is with tigr: https://pypi.org/project/tigr/
The collision comes from Warehouse ultranormalization, which folds l and i
to 1. Both tlgr and tigr normalize to t1gr.
I believe this is a false positive:
tlgr is the established import package name, console-script name and
repository name for the project: https://github.com/tlgrcli/tlgr. The name
is simply "Telegram" with the vowels removed, and predates the conflict; the
1.0.0 release is tagged 2026-03-06.tigr is an unrelated project, described as an "Experimental placeholder
package for future Tigr APIs". tigr is a distinct word with a distinct
meaning, in a different domain, with no overlapping audience.- The names are visually distinct to a human reader (
tl... vs ti...). The
collision arises only from the i/l/1 folding, not from any real
confusability, and neither name is a plausible typo of the other.
- I am not attempting to typosquat or impersonate
tigr, and I am not
requesting any action against it. I am asking only whether tlgr can be
permitted alongside it.
- The requested name matches the existing Python import package and the
installed command (tlgr), so a different distribution name creates lasting
installation and documentation confusion.
Maintenance or replacement?
None. tlgr is unregistered (https://pypi.org/project/tlgr returns 404); there
is no occupying project and no maintainer to contact.

No contact with the tigr maintainer has been attempted, because this request
does not ask for anything from them and does not affect their project.
If the override is not something PyPI grants, that is entirely fine and no
action is needed: I have published the project as tlgr-cli, which has no
collision. I am asking mainly so I know whether the shorter name can be used
in future.
