I was trying to write the visualization code when I noticed I couldn't get the output of the plugins. I'm not exactly sure why I didn't start a pull request earlier, but I found this branch with the stdout/stderr recording implemented. I've rebased it.
Merging this will be required before I can work on the viz code.
