I'm waiting for a kubernetes-sigs member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

@dongjiang1989 Thx for the PR, if there is no need to bump to alpha.1 at this time. I would probably defer merging this until later until we have a beta.

As soon as we merge this we would have to branch away to create v0.18.x patch release. I would like to avoid this if there is no need to pick up the alpha of v0.34 already.

In any case it's good to see if CI is still green and we can continue to bump k8s.io on this PR to run tests

No, the changes I would need aren't in alpha.1, but probably good to use the latest version regardless

I'm also fine with bumping. Just have to keep in mind that we should create a release branch based on a commit before this PR + start cherry-picking if we want to do patch releases of v0.18.0

(just mentioning it because in CT we often released patches from main, but not a big deal)
