Some errors are displayed in console:
[gdata-provider]: [calGoogleCalendar] Adding Item Test 2 failed:2147500037: can't access property "setMetaData", aOfflineStorage is undefined
Also:
Calendar manager initialised calendars before loadCalendarComponent ran on the first 3pane window. This should not happen.

Say what? 🤔🤣
Hello,
I can confirm: I have the same problem on my Windows 11 Pro computer with GData Provider 128.5.8 since updating Thunderbird to 148.0: the calendars are downloaded correctly (on the left), but they don't display.
Furthermore, the same issue occurs when starting Thunderbird (see image).
Philippe
I'm also confirming the same issue.
Win 11 Home
TB 148 (64 bit)
Provider for Google Calendar 128.5.8Exactly the same symptoms as described by nalim. Resubscribing adds the calendars for a while, but they disappear on restarting TB
Just tried beta version
v139.9.7 (beta)- and it has the same bug 😔Same here. Using TB 148.0 and Provider for Google Calendar128.5.8
all events disappeared
show again if I unsubscribe the calendars and subscribe them again, but are lost again when closing TB
new created events are not displayed but synchronized in Google Calendar and show up there
fun fact: time series are displayedI confirm the same bug since TB148.0 and Provider for Google Calendar128.5.8
The add-on is not required for calendar functions. So if you don't need the add-on for support of tasks, then you can remove the add-on.
Reacted by Martin ZurowietzGood evening,
Do you mean that it's possible to read and write Google Calendar information simply using the calendar included in Thunderbird?
I thought Thunderbird's calendar could only read this information from the Google server and not delete, correct, or add to it on Google's server?
Do you know what the limitations of the basic calendar provided with Thunderbird are, compared to gdata-provider? Where can I find more information?

Yes and no... Thunderbird support is limited to CalDAV functions.
Some GMail functions are not supported (see below).Do you mean that it's possible to read and write Google Calendar information simply using the calendar included in Thunderbird?
Add a new calendar, select "network" type and insert your
...@gmail.comaddress both for username and address.
TB will show all of your accout calendars and you can subscribe them but...Do you know what the limitations of the basic calendar provided with Thunderbird are, compared to gdata-provider? Where can I find more information?
In my daily use I need to set reminders for my events, and I always add email reminders.
Accessing GMail calendar through CalDAV will only allow to set alerts (🔔 icon) and not email reminders (✉️ icon).(sorry for the OT)

Update: Did some research. The solution is to put https://calendar.google.com/ in the Location field. That will lead to a google sign-in page.
I'll miss this add-in! It has been so useful over the years.

Ok, I've identified this is a regression in Thunderbird and filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2020215 . The workaround I can do in the add-on until we have a point release is really ugly, but this might work. The prior getItems error was a red herring, I needed to adjust how the calling code detects provider capabilities.

I have just installed gdata-provider-128.5.11.xpi.zip under TB 148.
I found it was necessary to uninstall / restart TB / install the addon a couple of times (I received the same error initially as Rmano above), but after that I was able to load my calendars and tasks again using this add-on.
After 2 or 3 restarts of TB, my calendar items and tasks are still displayed, which is a good sign. With the previous 128.5.8 and 128.5.9 versions, the entries in my calendars and my tasks would have disappeared after restarting TB that many times.
I can also confirm that the items survived a reboot of my PC (Win 11).
So far, it is looking good!
Thank you for working on this issue to resolve it.
v128.5.11 is still working for me after many shutdowns and restarts of TB 👍
I will be able to check only this evening (CET) --- my work computers still run TB 140.8 ...
v128.5.11 is working (required resubscribing and login to Google accounts)
Thanks for the amazing support even in a weekendHi.
The version 128.5.11 is working for me.
Steps:- uninstall old version
- restart TB
- install new version from zip
- restart TB
- add google-calendar and wait for sync
Thanks for the fix.

Reacted by unique-github-username128.5.11 works for me too. I even didn't have to resubscribe, only to reauthorize the extension to access google calendar. Thank you for the prompt response and your time! 👍
128.5.11 works for me too.
I've tried with a straight update (no uninstall) but calendars were still empty (even after a few TB restarts).
So I did the full uninstall/restart TB/install/restart TB/configure steps and it worked.
It actually still works after a lot of TB restarts 👍@kewisch thanks for your efforts, especially in this case where it seems the issue comes from upstream 😉
Version 128.5.11 funktioniert hier einwandfrei.
The v128.5.11 is working for me too after resubscribing and login to Google accounts.
Thanks for the support and your efforts! Greetings!Confirmed also from my side. 128.5.11 did the trick also for me.
Thanks a bunch for your ongoing support @kewisch. This is much appreciated.
Confirmed OK here, too (I tried to enter/exit a couple of times, event and task are surviving).
Thank you very much for the great support!
Excellent, glad it worked out! The new version has been approved on addons.thunderbird.net. If you've installed .11 via file here you don't need to do anything special, when .12 or beyond is released it will auto-update from ATN.
Your quick and elaborate feedback has made debugging smooth and painless, even when I thought I couldn't reproduce. I really appreciated how you all have stepped up! If you'd like to send me a small gift in addition you can do so here: https://www.paypal.me/kewisch/ ❤️
After the upgrade to TB 148 (gdata-provider 128.5.8) all events/tasks from subscribed Google calendars disappeared from the calendar view. When I resubscribe to my calendars, events reappear but then again, they gradually disappear again once I start to switch between different TB tabs/views or when I restart TB.
