Summary of Changes

Hello @doomedraven, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request significantly refactors the ProcessTree class in behavior.py to improve the reliability and stability of how process trees are constructed. The main objective is to mitigate issues that can arise from circular process dependencies or overly deep hierarchies, which previously could lead to problems during JSON serialization. The update replaces a recursive tree-building approach with a more robust iterative method that incorporates explicit cycle detection and depth limiting.

Highlights

  • Process Tree Reconstruction Logic Refactored: The core logic within the ProcessTree class for building the process hierarchy has been completely rewritten to enhance stability and prevent issues with complex or malformed process relationships.
  • Removal of Recursive add_node Method: The previously used recursive add_node helper method has been removed, streamlining the tree construction process into a single, iterative run method.
  • Introduction of Cycle Detection and Depth Limiting: The new tree building algorithm now explicitly includes logic to detect circular dependencies and limit recursion depth, preventing potential infinite loops or excessive nesting that could cause JSON serialization failures.
  • Improved Robustness for Process Tree Generation: These changes collectively aim to make the process tree generation more resilient and reliable, particularly when dealing with unusual or deeply nested process structures.

Code Review

The pull request refactors the process tree building logic in ProcessTree.run. The new implementation is a significant improvement, replacing an inefficient and potentially unsafe recursive approach with an iterative one that includes cycle detection. This enhances both performance and robustness. I have a couple of suggestions to further improve the robustness of the new implementation by using safer dictionary access methods.
