Glimt is an opinionated post-installation tool for Debian (Trixie) and Fedora. It streamlines and personalizes your Linux setup—both in the terminal and on the GNOME desktop—by applying sensible defaults, installing essential tools, and delivering a clean, consistent environment that’s ready to use from the start.


📥 Install

To install Glimt, simply run the following command in your terminal:

 bash <(wget -qO- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kenguru33/glimt/main/bootstrap.sh)

❗ Important

  • Do not run this script as the root user
  • Your user must have sudo privileges

🧠 OS-aware completions

glimt install <TAB> and glimt clean <TAB> complete modules from the correct tree:

  • Fedora/RHEL: modules/fedora/ and modules/fedora/extras/
  • Debian/Ubuntu: modules/debian/ and modules/debian/extras/

🔐 Fedora note: Git credentials (GNOME Keyring)

On Fedora, Git uses git-credential-libsecret (GNOME Keyring). If your user keyring socket isn’t enabled, run:

systemctl --user enable --now gnome-keyring-daemon.socket
