Hard-codes little-endian machine order for now
So far, this only deals with corrupted magic numbers. GNU cpio can also be robust to header which are corrput themselves.

I don't know if you're interested in this one. I have to deal with cpio archives which sometimes have corruption. I need to gracefully go to the next intact file in the archive a la GNU cpio.
