Description

This reverts commit 5ddad08.

If the requisite Python upgrade isn't feasible, it makes sense to revert the asteval change, and go back to eval until it can be upgraded to a version not vulnerable to CVE-2025-24359; allowing folks an upgrade path who otherwise couldn't due to the CVE. Once everything's in place, the commit herein can be reverted.

Fixes #7194
