Probe Effect

Probe Effect is the phenomena whereby a probe, instrumentation, or measurement tool causes some effect in the experiment.

By instrumenting a parallel program, Contech is changing the program's behavior. An open question is to put bounds on the probe effect for Contech. We know that the effect will vary depending on the program itself, but the specific causes and impacts are not known. Furthermore, if the effects are known, can they be modeled and accounted for to better realize the original program?
