I believe that everything is related and success in a given field comes from uniquely connecting seemingly disparate fields. Being able to know what is going on in your community, whether that's your block, neighborhood, town, city, state, or country, is the foundation of democracy. Luckily, that information lives online. Unluckily, it is hard to find, parse, and answer the fundamental questions: "How does this affect me?" and "What can I do about it?" My background includes 3 years of working in local government, both on the policy recommendation and data consultant sides. It includes building social impact tech to solve access to information issues, and advocating for action and building above all else. I've worked across fashion, film, media, law, and tech. Now, I'm in college, studying Computational Linguistics at USC. I want to help local governments work better and faster for the people they serve, and bring the technological revolution to the public sector. I am also building a community of civic engineers, builders, thinkers, and designers. If you're interested in working together, my contact information is just below.
I build civic tech that makes public data and local government activity transparent and accessible to everyone. Because right now, local gov data is publicly available, but not publicly accessible. I founded Visic, building tech to help local govs and city residents understand public data better.
- CityWise — a live tool that maps LA legislation and connects residents with what their city council representative is actually doing. Turning the council files, votes, and documents into something a anyone can understand. Visic's flagship product.
I'm interested in researching and working on:
- GIS: How can we map seemingly unmappble data?
- RAG: How can we turn messy, unstructured document sets into conversational tools?
- ML / NLP: How can we use cutting edge tech to find patterns and insights across public documents?
- Retrieval, embeddings, and vector search for public-interest tooling
- Anything at the intersection of AI, mapping, local government transparency
If your interests are aligned, let's talk! Let's build civic tech together.
Interested in collaborating, or talking about civic tech, democracy, AI, open data, and data viz?
