What does this PR do ?

Cleans up code related to the DP coord in the engine and unit test. When it comes to the engine, these are meant to be merely cosmetic changes - other than the implementation of PP that is taken from #2182 . When it comes to the unit test, this PR makes significant improvements.

NOTE: This shares some identical changes with #2182.
