This doesn't quite fill the same role as the Sentinel, lacking all of its proper long-range firepower from the Bofors in exchange for filling the same role as the Andromeda. The Tarnyx is an interesting addition to that loadout, but the design of this ship does look like a giant ramming block. Secondarily, are the shuttle/gunnery/radar consoles facing towards the rear of the ship? |
They are facing the right way, they're the consoles that are pointing north |
|
direct from TSF guidelines, they are only allowed rapid fire ballistics from a quick overlook the ship is built like a PDV ship but if it were to have energy weaponry |
This ship does not fill the same role as the Sentinel, and fills the same role as the Andromeda. |
|
theres no such role as rammer, refer to the roster |
|
for real tho, the ship has an overt amount of armor, it's armored like a PDV, armed like a TSF you used an overkill amount of large thrusters... for no reason, instead of using the size class' allowed large thrust guidelines, you used them on all 4 sides also roster doesnt exist anymore, sorry about that part
by this logic hoplite and andromeda fill the same purpose, shall we not remove either? |
|
GO HOME KNIFE EAR |
|
Fails to meet thruster guidelines for medium ships, large thrusters on non opposing sides |
If you insist on their similarities, then naturally this ship fills the same role as both the Andromeda and Hoplite. But most importantly, it does not fill the same role as the Sentinel. |
what WAS sentis role? |

Preliminary:
PR body needs work. Effort should be put into explaining the goal and general design of the ship, as well as classifications. No need to make it too long. (See our ship guidelines for those, https://monolith-station.github.io/mono-docs/en/monolith/shipyard/ship_guidelines.html)
Justification should be a bit more in depth as well, regarding the new ship. An image of the ship you are replacing (the Sentinel) is required.
`When PRing a new ship, you must always include:
what kind of niche it fills (in other words, consider why would anyone ever buy your ship)
An image of the ship
It’s radar signature (how it looks on a mass scanner).
When PRing the replacement of a ship, you must also include an image of the previous ship you’re replacing atop of the above requirements.`
Ship is hovering around in between medium and large in terms of classification. I'd say its large personally.
Ship:
From the image alone:
Gravity Generator being in a non-engineering space isn't really ideal, I can tell you are running out of room.
The amount of large side thrusters, even for a large classification ship, could be considered excessive. Generally, ships should be primary forward thrust.
Unless the ship has a gimmick in mind (like strafing or omnidirectionnal), you should focus on main thrust.
This may help you find more room for that gravity generator.
Guns:
Scylla and Tarnyx being directly next to each other is really not good. Scylla's placement clips into the wall, you should endeavor to make a sense of actual gun mounts via both decaling and adding extra tiling and the like to give the sense of proper spacing and order for ship guns.
Guns should be spread out if possible as well. For the top, its somewhat alright to have something like two Scyllas packed together. Or some other medium guns. You will have to make the Scyllas not clip into the walls by removing some. Not sure if that's balanced or not or whatever.
EMPs are specialist weapons and shouldn't be mixed directly next to lethal weapons like that.
Overall:
Otherwise, good interior layout, and very good radar markings. A few ideas I suggest to improve is to reduce some of the side thrust (especially large thrusters) for internal space, especially to properly house the gravity generator.
Interior could use a bit more stuff to be slightly more cramped-ish.
Guns needs proper work to make them fit with the ship through good gun mounts, especially the Scylla/Tarnyx combo.
Bridge could be made a bit less awkward looking with the shuttle console and gunnery consoles, expanding the bridge into the armor wouldn't be a bad idea (you can always kill the side thrust down there for more room)

why did it double post :( |
This is more of a large ship not going to lie. The TSF standards do say to have worse internal armor, yes. The exterior armor is fine as it is. Heavy frontal armor is also apart of the guidelines, the guidelines are mostly generalizations. TSF large ships should not feel cramped, actually. This is not a rectangle whatsoever. The black mono catwalks are fine for guns. For future ship commenters, please focus on giving constructive, overall feedback instead of dogpiling every single "flaw" you can see. And if you are going to argue from the guidelines, actually quote it and be detailed. Offer critique "this is simple geometric shape" (this does not help anyone whatsoever) Cause it kinda looks like this is veering towards more "ship bashing" than "constructive criticism" to me. |

check above for suggestions
I apologize if it came off as rude as that was not my intention, BUT
I was not making a detailed review, I was pointing out things that I believed would help. Quotes and detail are not always needed, mayhap for a longer review, but not for quick bullet points made in an attempt to help, its unreasonable to expect everyone to do as such. Your quote of "this is a simple geometric shape", is just me pointing out "this looks like a rectangle", and is a perfectly fine thing to say, not some attempt to attack or bash anyone ones work. My overall goal was to be helpful, I apologize that it does not read as such and if it offended anyone. |

- After a maint discussion we suggest you eather:
- remove scylla/tarynx and add double bofors (More combat focused)
- Replace scylla with tarynx (acting as more of a support/specialist ship)
Note: You are abile to try different loadouts but scylla/tarynx mix is not good (for example ak570/dravon/cyrexa or even Marauder/cerberus, though last 2 have a slow projectile speed but high damage)
|
I'm not sure if this ship should replace the sentinel and instead just be added alone, or if we should leave the sentinel up for another ship in the future to potentially replace. Its not really the same role and the feel and design is substantially different. |
My problem with making a direct replacement for the Sentinel is that there aren't enough good weapons that can fulfil its long-range role role. The Cyrexa, the Bofors and the Charon are the large, long-range and high damage weapons (that are available to the TSF). Personally though, I don't think these weapons fit the the faction guidlines though (except for the charon but that's different). They're neither high tech or of TSF origin nor are they energy or fast-firing. |

I have changed the weapons to hopefully be more of a middle-ground between the strafer role and the sentinel's |

About the PR
Adds a new ship to the the TSF roster with the intent of replacing the Sentinel.
Why / Balance
The sentinel was meant to be a corvette but the pair of Boforses it's equipped with are neither good that role nor are they are they compliant with TSF faction guidelines. Its looks are also outdated.
The pernach is a mid-range strafer instead as the the current TSF weapon roster favours that play style. It is meant to deal deal good damage to late-game PDV ships while being agile enough to outstrafe them.
