Karan-Palan/README.md

Hey there πŸ‘‹

I'm a 20 y/o CS Junior, passionate about the future of technology, solving meaningful problems, and constantly learning along the way.

My Journey So Far

  • Started learning to code in August 23' through a couple of Udemy courses on web development and Python.
Got introduced to open source through Hacktoberfest, and attended a few hackathons.

  • Achieved my first hackathon win in January 2024. Participated and won multiple hackathons after it.

Here's a list of my hackathon wins so far:
    1. 1st Place β€” LNM Hacks 6.0 (Jan 2024)
    2. 2nd Runner-Up β€” IEEE Hackerzstreet 2.0 (Mar 2024)
    3. 2nd Runner-Up β€” MANTRA Chain Hacker's Hideout (Jul/Aug 2024)
    4. 1st Place β€” GDSC x Aptos Hackathon (Nov 2024)
    5. Winner β€” LNM Hacks 7.0 (Jan 2025)
  • Selected for Google Summer of Code 2024 with Sugar Labs, where I worked on prototyping visual bricks for MusicBlocks v4.

  • Completed multiple freelance projects using the MERN stack.
Learned marketing with paid ads, and applied them to help 3 local businesses.

  • Contributed to JSON Schema and developed a VS Code extension (400+ downloads).
Invited to join the Layer5 organization for my active contributions.

  • Selected for Google Summer of Code 2025 with JSON Schema, where I worked on deciding linting rules and implementing them in C++ for a 10x better linter (literally), and it got even better. Check it out - sourcemeta/jsonschema. I sent PRs to many of the popular repos auto-fixing their schemas with the rules we implemented. Find all my PRs here. I also worked with my mentor to create a VS code extension that is based on the cli, an update to the previous extension I made. It will be getting many updates, so check it out here. I got sponsored for this work as well :)

  • Alongside a friend, created https://contrilab.in/, a project we created to give back to the community. You can find GSoC organisations, roadmaps, resources, search for repos in natural language or even find open source alternatives and YC-backed OSS startups. We crossed 500+ users, and it will get many updates, so check it out!

  • I contributed to Antiwork's repositories helping them with Slack integration, e2e tests and a couple of small features and bug fixes. Won a-lot of bounties!

I've worked with MERN and T3 stack, explored C++, solidity and ML (during first year hackathons). I'm currently Locked in for the next 6 months, practising algorithms, diving into CS fundamentals and learning how to create great AI agents. I also read many non-fiction and sci-fi books.

Feel free to connect with me on my socials, always open to chat, collaborate, or just geek out over cool tech stuff.
