Summary of Changes

Hello @vipnydav, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request resolves a build failure within the build-csi target by standardizing the way the Golang version is referenced. It introduces a global Makefile variable for the Golang version, ensuring consistent and correct expansion when submitting gcloud builds, thereby fixing the previously reported issue.

Highlights

  • Build Fix: Addresses a failure in the build-csi target that occurred due to incorrect variable expansion.
  • Variable Handling: Moves the Golang version extraction into a global Makefile variable for consistent use.
  • Correct Expansion: Replaces a problematic inline shell variable with the standard Makefile variable syntax $(GOLANG_VERSION) within the gcloud builds submit command.

Code Review

This pull request correctly addresses a build failure in the build-csi target by refactoring the Go version extraction into a global Makefile variable. The previous inline shell variable expansion was problematic, and the new approach using $(GOLANG_VERSION) is the standard and correct way to handle this in a Makefile. The change is clear and effective. I've added one suggestion to further improve the Makefile by using a simply expanded variable for better performance.
