Getting error trying to install on mac0S, tried with 3.12 and 3.10

I also have this issue on Windows and none of the workarounds I've tried seem to be helping (e.g., changing requirements.txt to require setuptools < 80, or changing setup.py directly to add setup_requires=["setuptools<80"] ). Does anyone have any further insight? Do different python versions behave differently?

I also had this error on mac, I ended up following the local development instructions for docker and got it to install within the docker image
