- Heather Seltzer
- Eric Jackson
The event will be held at Mojo Coworking from 1-5pm, with food and drinks provided. Dave will finalize arrangements with Mojo - cost will be $40/hour. There should be sufficient funding from Code for America to cover the event.
The event will have two tracks:
-
Hack a draft Open Data policy to hand off to the appropriate city officials for review
-
Kick off product development of an app for city/citizen engagement around the city budget.
We will be specifically inviting the city public information officer, Dawa Hitch, someone able to authoritatively discuss the budget, and city council members. However, given the short time, we will not try to make this a big event with broad participation - we'll target that for the next major event, probably in June.
Action steps:
-
Complete PR introduction and draft invite letter at next Hack Night
-
Have Scott inform Dawa/Budget Office of Goals & invite them
-
Set up Facebook event page (Dave & Heather)
Skipped - to be done at 2/4/14 Hack night.
Skipped since preparation of the draft has been postponed to the 2/22 Code Across event (we will need to do some prep at next meeting and 2/11 Hack night).
Focus for 2/4 Hack night is to complete the mission statement. Other items for the next 2 hack nights:
- Complete the mission statement (2/4)
- Draft invite letter/press release (2/4)
- Updates to Code for Asheville website
- Prep for open data and budget app tracks of the 2/22 event
Dave noted that there is often training available from Code for America for potential leadership roles and that we need to be proactive in pointing these out to those who demonstrate commitment and interest.
###New member on-boarding### There is a need for guidance for new members on how to get involved. A primer was developed last year - Dave to put on Wiki and allow hacks.
###Other business###
- Leadership team meeting schedule: beginning in March, the team will switch to monthly meetings: 2nd Mondays at 5:30pm. Dave will add to Meetup.
- Jason Mann designated chair of 2/17 leadership meeting
- The next big event is the National Day of Hacking in June - this should be a key agenda item for the March meeting. Dave noted that transit/transportation questions are most frequent searches on the city website - multi-modal transportation may be a good focus for the June event.
