unable to save changes to category builder

the problem was with an obscure extension on my end blocking the html from loading.... I am SO sorry for wasting your time :(

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
1. Go to activitywatch settings page on web view
2. Click on any category, or add a new category to edit it
3. try editing the category information
4. succeed
5. see a glaring lack of a save button
6. See error

Expected behavior

I expected to be able to save the changes to the category builder, as in previous versions

Additional context

category information can be changed and viewed correctly by exporting the categories, then changing the information manually, and importing the categories, but that is inconvenient for most users.

This may be related to ActivityWatch/aw-webui#702 — an issue with duplicate category names causing unexpected behavior in the category editor. I've submitted a fix in ActivityWatch/aw-webui#755 that:

1. Generates unique default names when creating subcategories (no more duplicate "New class" entries)
2. Fixes the rename logic so editing one category doesn't affect siblings with the same name

Could you check if your issue involves categories with duplicate names? If so, the fix in #755 should resolve it once merged.

This was fixed in ActivityWatch/aw-webui#755 (merged Feb 20, 2026) which prevents duplicate category names from causing shared edits. The root cause was that categories with the same name shared a reference, so editing one would affect the other.
