Switch to a different licence

Currently, the repository is licensed under GPL 3.0, which isn't great for apps wanting to use the library as they all have to make them open source with the same licence. Consider using a different licence that allows closed-source apps and apps with other licences.

I've been thinking of this for a while, GPL 3.0 was chosen initially but licenses like MIT seems more appropriate. Any thoughts on specific licenses, and a CLA (maybe in the future)? I wish to have the license changed by 2.0, which shouldn't be very far off.
