Install failed 0.4.0 beta - "directory is corrupted"

Description

After accepting T&C and clicking install, FluentStore tries to download things via svchost and gaming services? My first question would be why would it attempt to use those instead of just downloading with its own process?

My computer is heavily firewalled and I prefer not to give wildcard applications like svchost access to the internet as it's an obvious source of vulnerabilities.

Either way, after a while of waiting and seemingly not doing anything (possibly because IPFS takes a few seconds to respond), the installation fails with System.BadImageFormatException

Steps To Reproduce

1. Install NetLimiter
2. Deny access to internet to every garbage spyware bullshit that Windows is rife with
3. Run Fluent Store installer

Expected behavior

Installer uses its own process to run all its downloads, and also lets me copy&paste errors instead of having a popup window that immediately closes the installer afterwards.

What's likely happening is that the package management API used to install Fluent Store is trying to download required dependencies from Windows Update. You could try manually downloading them: for x64, that should be VCLibs and WinAppSDK runtime. Fluent Store used the package management APIs because Fluent Store is a packaged app, that's the only way to install it. I could install the dependencies manually, but that could make the installer much less reliable.

Keep in mind this is not a supported scenario. Even if you managed to get Fluent Store installed, it still requires internet access to download plugins, packages, and those packages dependencies.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, using internet and winget and similar is an expected scenario; the difference being that I can enable the firewall for that for let's say 15 minutes explicitly when I request something to be installed or updated - installers shouldn't have a blanket background access to the internet.

Trying again to install on my laptop, Windows 11 22H2, after installing 1 of the 2 packages you linked above (the other one was already installed), and got this new error on both 0.4.0 and 0.4.1:

Then I managed to install the msixbundle as I realized that while the .exe installer is running, I can install it as it adds the certificate temporarily.

0.4.1 threw some error that I already forgot while trying to set up IPFS, but 0.4.0 managed to run (I allowed outgoing traffic for FluentStore.app, and for ipfs.exe both incoming and outgoing traffic) but shows a blank space under Pick Plugins menu.

Firewall is not even asking about for access to any other executables, so my guess is that both the install trouble and this runtime problem could be caused by timeouts for accessing the IPFS from my location - connecting to the ipfs.askharoun.com from a browser takes 15s+ for any pageload or download request. c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\52374YoshiAskharoun.FluentStore_7sdtne7r32rbe\ has some binary files in it, but nothing that would offer any clues.
