Please convert the project to maven and java 8 atleast so that more people could use it

Please convert the project to maven and java 8 at least so that more people could use it, seems like pretty old, I am not sure these dependencies are upgraded for long time, it would be great if you consider it.
It is very interesting project but it is very ancient having applets, could you please make it modern with maven or gradle and java 17.
