do i need Silence?

just started using GrapheneOS on a Pixel 9 and i don't know what the default dialer is capable of

1. if i choose to block all numbers not on my contact list, what happens to these calls - are they dropped, or are they forwarded to voicemail?
2. can the default dialer app do RegEx? wildcards?
   i need to at least block an area code (^1 123.* or `1 123*)

voicemail? It may depend on your carrier and what response options do you use. You have to try.
