How to use second featured images for archive display with PHP?

I'd like to use a second featured image for archive page previews; a smaller icon image but don't know what code to use in the functions.php file as I have little experience with PHP. Any help?

I tried searching for answers on the web but I can't find a solution.

(I'm using the "comic" post type and my theme is ComicPress if that's relevant.)
