Migrate to the new Google API gems #90
Description
Background
This project currently uses the monolithic google-api-client gem, which is 59 megs when installed. This gem ships with a massive amount of stuff we don't use or want to install on every workstation. Thankfully Google split the gem out, similar to the aws-sdk gems, and will only be supporting those new gems going forward.
Work to Do
Google has produced a list of all the new gems here: https://github.com/googleapis/google-cloud-ruby
They will only be supporting these new gems going forward and we want to make sure we complete the migration to the new gems as soon as possible. We'll need to complete these steps:
- Evaluate which gems we'll need to use for this project
- Upgrade the codebase to these new gems
- Test, test, test
- Prep a release, which we will coordinate across the various Chef Workstation projects using the previous gem.
