Issue with firmware console modes on boot with systemd boot bonobo ws 15 inch #621

@RileyMathews

I originally opened this issue on the system76-firmware issue but after looking around I think this is more appropriate here.

First off I'll just go ahead and say I know I'm not 'officially supported' since I'm running Arch and not PopOS. So feel free to close this issue as won't do as this is really more of an annoyance than anything.

Whenever I boot with some external monitors plugged in I get a systemd boot error saying "cannot switch console mode: invalid parameter" but then the system moves onto a boot menu just fine.

I posted this in the systemd repo systemd/systemd#37324 but they said this is likely a firmware issue and that I should report it to the vendor. More info can be seen in that issue.

I have a bonobo ws 15 bought in the summer of 2024. My product version from /sys/class/dmi/id/product_version is bonw15.

My bios version is 2023-10-20_2e4e34b. I have tried updating this a few times using the information on system76 support but each time this is the newest version of the firmware I can get for my system.

The arch related system76 packages I have installed from the AUR are.

$ pacman -Q | grep system76
system76-driver 24.04.4-1
system76-firmware 1.0.71-1
system76-power 1.2.4-1

Again no worries if this won't be worked on. Just figured I would pass the message along as the systemd people sent me here.
