ERROR IN THE CODE!

My function

function pay() public {

        require(msg.value.convert() > number,"fuck you");
        addresses.push(msg.sender);
        map[msg.sender] = msg.value;
    }

My error:

TypeError: "msg.value" and "callvalue()" can only be used in payable public functions. Make the function "payable" or use an internal function to avoid this error.

Can someone tell me why i got this error?

to make a function payable with ether, you must add the payable modifier. Modifiers come after the visibility specifier (public).

function pay() public payable {
