Does Proxmox CCM require a cluster + valid TLS certificate?

I have a single Proxmox host in my homelab (admittedly, even with a self-signed cert atm). Does Proxmox CCM require a cluster with a valid TLS certificate? Interested in deploying CCM + Karpenter provisioner in my homelab but was hoping to get my todo list together before starting on this.

insecure: false indicates I might be able to use a self-signed cert.

I don't currently have a cluster and not sure how/if that changes any API endpoints required for this to work. Though the port seems to indicate a single node might do just fine.
