Requesting future episodes not possible when "partly available"

Hi everyone,

I am not sure whether this is the right place to post this, but I am currently facing the following situation:

Let’s assume a series is currently airing and releases new episodes weekly. I already have episodes 1 to 7 available, but episodes 8 to 24 are still missing. I would like to request those future episodes in advance so they are added automatically once they become available. However, with the current frontend, I am unable to do that.

Would it be possible to add options such as:

• “Request future episodes until the season ends”
• “Request all future episodes”

This would be especially useful when a series is already partially available, but no new episodes are currently released yet.

I hope this explains what I mean.

When you request a currently airing season through Seerr, the entire season is sent to Sonarr for monitoring including all future episodes.

Sonarr then handles grabbing each episode as it becomes available. There's nothing additional Seerr needs to do here. It's out of seerr hands.

If episodes aren't being picked up as they air, that's a Sonarr configuration issue (e.g., quality profiles, indexer settings, or the series not being monitored correctly in Sonarr). Not seerr.

I'd recommend checking your Sonarr dashboard to confirm the series and all episodes are set to "monitored."

Closing this as the described behavior is already how Seerr works by default.

But I cant request it at all. I installed seerr yesterday, together with sonarr and radarr. It imported my series and movies, and now I would like to fetch the new episodes whenever they are available, but I cannot start this initial "request". Or is it like this, that all current seasons will automatically continued even I did not request them in first place?

To clarify how Seerr works: it doesn't request individual episodes. It requests entire seasons. A "request" in Seerr is essentially telling Sonarr "monitor this season," and Sonarr then handles grabbing episodes as they become available.

Since you imported your existing library, those series are already monitored in Sonarr. You don't need to request them again through Seerr. Sonarr is already tracking them. New episodes will be grabbed automatically based on your Sonarr configuration.

If something specific isn't being picked up, that's an issue on the Sonarr side (profiles, indexers, etc.), but there's no action needed in Seerr for series you've already imported.

Got it, thank you for clarifying. Still trying to understand that whole eco-system. But I think I got it now.
