Folder in guides/less technical docs and directory in technical docs like design?

I think this was already mentioned in the PR where the discussion originated, but to me these words can be used interchangeably in our docs.

Technically, I believe a "directory" is the actual file system item whereas "folder" refers to the visual representation of a directory in a GUI.
