Dumping a Repro?

I have an old repro I bought thats a translated Mother NES cart. Since it doesnt find it in the cartridge database, how do I go about dumping?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am brand new to this tool.

I selected Mother (Japan) in the cartridge option and when testing it in an emulator it sort of works, but the Main Menu is glitched and many dialogue options are very odd.

In order to dump a NES cart we need to know which mapper it uses: do you have pictures of the PCB?

I dont but it looks extremely similar to the Shadowgate USA PCB with some rom chips on it that have hand written notes that say EB. This was Earthbound Zero.

Well that's the thing with mappers: you have to know exactly how they work. So either you make an educated guess by looking at the PCB or you'll have to do some code analysis I suppose.

With the PCB what should I be looking for?

Just tried dumping it manually with those settings and ran through a few emulators, no dice. I tried the prg and chr settings of the Japanese Mother cart, but also no dice for that. Any other thoughts?

Made sure I ran 5v.

For what its worth I also have a Retron 5 which is able to read it correctly. But I'm unsure if that console gives me any info on the ROM files or statistics at all.

dump it multiple times and make sure the CRC32 is consistent, then make sure you set the proper header for emulation

So for header, is that the 8 character string found after the CRC32? Also I am slightly unsure how to set the header for emulation. Is there a good emulator to do that?

The header is metadata located in the first 16 bytes of the ROM file (details here).
You can either use a hex editor or an emulator to set the proper values.
For example 4E 45 53 1A 10 20 42 08 00 00 70 00 00 00 00 01

I am a bit unsure how to find the full header of the rom. Especially for a repro. Does the CRC32 value equal 16 characters?

The CRC32 value has nothing to do with the header.
You can use the header bytes I posted as an example above.
