FR: android client build for termux use

Hi,

Awesome project!

The linux compiled version obviously does not currently work on android. I was wondering if this was doable / planned? I am refering to the client more than the server of course.

@thiswillbeyourgithub I haven't looked into building for android and have not much experience with it. Do you maybe have an example of what to build for? Is a generic lin-arm build enough or what would it take?

I will also look into it and maybe add an android build that runs in termux, but if you already have it working, maybe you can give me a guide?

Would add this as a binary to the next release if I get it to work by then :)

I have little experience with compiled languages so don't even know what you mean by "what to build for". Android 15? Pixel 7a?

Have what working? Termux is really just an apk that gets you a shell where you can then do a lot of stuff like using apt to download stuff.

Also, come to think of it maybe it could be used as an android server right? Like if I run iroh-ssh in my phone, connecting from my computer could get me the shell. I think it's already possible to run the openssh server on android but not sure at all. Systemd to handle the daemon is very probably impossible though, IIUC.

You can just cargo build iroh-ssh in termux on android just like you would on linux and it works for me. I also made a flutter app based on iroh-ssh (or more like claude code mostly built it), not sure if I'm going to use it and/or maintain it, but it's there https://github.com/futpib/iroh-ssh-android
