Is there a possibility that this could be updated for the generated Jupyter notebook to assert against variables the given answer(n)?

I'm not sure to understand. You mean adding assert to test between computed and expected result?
What would be the use?

I was thinking more about automated tests:

def test_import_numpy_as_np(self): # Testing first question
        # Check if 'np' is in globals and is numpy
        self.assertIn("np", self.globals)
        self.assertIs(self.globals["np"], np)

This way you can auto-grade yourself as you move on, but without spoiling answers by using answer(n)

I see, but question is whether this can extended to all questions.
