Wifi Direct in Android deprecation issue

Thanks very so much for your hard work here. This is a fantastic project. I have been trying to get my android dxo to connect via wifi direct since it was deprecated in newer android os versions. I have tried to mod autoexec.ash to trigger the dxo to go into infrastructure mode and join a local network without luck. I thought perhaps I could use my phone to establish a mobile hotspot, connect the dxo to it in infrastructure mode and then try to connect via the app tpnise outdoors. I've bounced this problem off all the smartest AIs have access to and no joy. Any guildance or help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually never got the WiFi connection to work with the app, I'm not sure it ever really worked on Android since the product never officially launched...

You can use autoexec.ash to have the device connect to an access point, it will connect and get an IP. But the original app doesn't have any options to connect to it, and the camera won't answer to everyone:

The native implementation is that the app needs to initiate the WiFi-mode on the camera.
Technically the App instructs the Main OS to wake up the Linux OS (the secondary OS which only manages the WiFi and talks to the Main OS). During that process the app receives a key that it then needs in the next step to reconnect to the camera over Wi-Fi again (via a JSON-RPC protocol).

This is not unsolvable, someone with the skill and time could work on an alternative camera app, the protocol is fairly simple from what I have seen so far.
There are also lots of opportunities for additional features buried in the Linux OS, it's an area I didn't explore yet because I focused my limited time on the Main OS so far...

The direct path to that would be a new Android app for the camera. The existing app implemented only a WiFi direct connection using routines and APIs which are no longer supported (and possibly never have been working properly, because the Android variant never launched commercially, and the implementation of Wi-Fi direct back then was still quite proprietary between smartphone vendors).

The Linux part of the camera OS (which handles the WiFi part) is also hackable, so if needed modifications there are also possible.

I personally still focus more on the main OS of the camera and standalone operation though, because even if you get something to work on the Linux part, the power consumption increases so much when that second OS is running that you're running out of battery quite fast.

Anyway, the wiki of the project saw a few huge updates since my original comment above. Feel free to look into it, contributions are very welcome!

Is there an autoexec.ash script that lets the DxO One join a local area network? I want to try adding an indoor mode. I've attempted to fix the outdoor mode but haven't succeeded. Perhaps Android 16 has completely disabled apps from detecting SSIDs. It might also be nice if the DxO One could connect to Wi-Fi for remote control.

Great news! I figured out a way to modify the official app so that it can connect to the DxO One wirelessly, and it works on Android 16. I also added a basic flash function, though it’s pretty minimal. However, flash synchronization isn’t possible due to Android hardware limitations, so I added a flash delay switch for manual synchronization only.
