Git fetches branch but can't switch to it

Describe the bug
I cloned a repo, fetched a branch, tried to check it out, it wouldn't do it.

Git fetches branch but won't allow me to check it out:

After trying repeatedly, I cloned the repo again into another workspace and it worked.

I'm not sure if this issue can be reproduced.
