workgroups shows Args out of range 0,0 whenever i try to create a workgroup

whenever i try to create the workgroup it prompt for a name, no matter if i give it a name or leave the default, it shows the error and nothing gets created
my emacs version
GNU Emacs 28.0.50 (build 1, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.24.20, cairo version 1.16.0) of 2021-09-09
my workgroups version
20210511.1128
