I put in walking directions from 27th Street and 5th Ave in Manhattan to the Apple store at 767 5th Ave (at e 58th St), a distance of 1.6 miles on a paved sidewalk. The predicted walk time is 1h 1m, which seems to be using a walking speed of about 1.6 mph. However the default walking speed in my app is 2.5 mph, and if anything I should be able to cover that distance faster.
How does it choose the walking speed for sidewalks and can I adjust it to my experience?
