Need to edit XML render file - hide Service Roads on map

I would like to hide all service roads (driveways, parking lots, tracks) either permanently if possible, or at least increase the zoom level where they begin to display. I am using the OsmAnd default map style, so I'm editing the default.render.xml file.

I've tried just commenting out any lines that refer to tag="highway" and value="service", but that didn't seem to change anything. I tried changing the renderingAttribute $serviceRoadColor = $defaultColor to see if it blends the service roads into the background, but that didn't work. I tried changing anywhere that the Order for tag="highway" value="service" is set to change the Order=-1, but that didn't work. I tried hiding service roads by commenting out the tag="highway" value="service" in <apply_if hideUnderground="true">. Nope.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to do what I'm trying?

I change sometimes color for service roads in TouringView profile like that

Thank you - I would have to change the attrColorValue to whatever the background color is to "hide" it.

You can try to insert transparent color

For speed it is better to set order="-1" to corresponding tags in the <order> section of style.

I don't think I'm finding the right thing to change, or I'm putting it in the wrong place. I'm editing default.render.xml.

I edited this line in yellow and change maxzoom to 17, I assume to make house numbers not appear until zoomed in to the max level.

But after saving the file and putting into ..\Android\data\net.osmand\rendering, it didn't make any change on the map.

Can you tell me how I can make a change and put the file in the right place to see the result when I open up Osmand default map style?

Looks like you are looking at wrong folder. Rendering styles are automatically written to this folder at app start if they don't exist there.

They are in rendering folder inside working osmand directiory on device

I don't know where else to look. The folder \Internal storage\Android\data\net.osmand is the working folder for OsmAnd. Are the styles compiled into the executable code or in a library? How does the configuration page show a "LightRS" style when there's no lightrs.render.xml file in ..\Internal storage\Android\data\net.osmand\files\rendering?

You can import rendering styles through the UI by navigating to Menu > Maps & Resources > Local > Rendering Styles. Then, tap on the three-dot icon in the Appbar and select "Import."

All I want to do is hide service roads, driveways, trails, walking paths. etc. when using the Driving profile. These are residential streets and I don't need to see every driveway and service road when I'm driving. It really clutters the map, and I can't hide these service roads completely. If I can't make the map less cluttered, then this app it not suitable to use in the car.

Sygic has a much better driving format. If you can duplicate that in OsmAnd, that might get it more attention.
