I haven't had to do this on the scale of Postgres, but I suspect there's not much you can do beyond maintaining a golden patchset backported to the versions of interest. I would love to be proven wrong, though! |

Hi everyone!
I hope that someone in the community has already made mistakes that I can learn from and avoid. I need to maintain a significant portion of the Postgres core code, patched a little bit. What is the most effective and time-saving approach to maintain this for different core versions? It's important to keep in mind that core code can be changed in minor updates, and we need to track those changes, copy the new version, and reapply the patches.
