General notes
Note: All reviews and issues should prioritize v1 stability. API is now in feature freeze.
Next Monday is Labor Day. call will be moved to same time Tuesday.

Armin

• Reviewed and triaged PRs with Spacebear. More on this in spacebear's update.
• Taking over over Fix weight estimation for P2TR inputs #880 for taproot script weight prediction.
• Continued work on decoupling receiver typestates Decoupling v2 receiver typestates from v1 typestates #951 Decouple wants outputs v1 and v2 typestates #992
• Spent time over the weekend prototyping some privacy-preserving Nostr ideas. Plans to continue into this week. Spec and write up are next in terms of priority
• Need to nudge wizardsardine reviewers for payjoin intergration review

Ben

• Advanced the MSRV dependency update PR Update msrv deps #959. nearly ready to be undrafted.
• Still blocked on OHTTP relay integration tests. Certificate signing has changed, and current docs are unclear. Dan offered to help with this.
• CI infrastructure notes:
  • macOS non-x86 runners are being deprecated by year-end.
  • macOS 15 introduces virtualization support, which may simplify reintroducing Docker into CI -- if we ever decide to do that.
  • Current CI runtime was 50 minutes not its ~15.
• Working on drafted a WIP PR for plaintext padding Remove pad plaintext from hpke #525

Chavic

• Hashmap/map support in uniffi dart Added HashMap/Map type support for Dart bindings Uniffi-Dart/uniffi-dart#81
• Refactoring Int primitives Refactored int primitives with BigInt support and bounds checking Uniffi-Dart/uniffi-dart#83
• Testing utility flags and (in progress) complex sequences 95% complete, edgecase for Vec size checking, other types work fine
• Spacebear plans to onboard Chavic into rust-payjoin-ffi; goal is to contribute there by the end of the week.

Dan

• Reiterated the feature freeze; focus is squarely on stabilizing for 1.0.
• Merged sender refactor work Refactor sender to validate PjParam by version #901. Reviewed the reciver side of this that Armin is working on
• Hosted Bitcoin open-source visitors in the office.
• Coordinating setup of a Payjoin Directory in Brazil. And thinking more about decentralization of infrastructure
  • Step 1: get more relays running by independent operators.
  • Step 2: establish contingency plans for “break-glass” situations.
• Writing a post about Yuval’s involvement in the project.
• Drafting tax documents for charitable status.
• Once writing is done will be pushing toward API stability for 1.0.
• Frustrated by new contributors taking issues with no acceptance criteria, passing them through LLMs, and producing low-quality PRs that increase reviewer burden.
• Plan for this week : define a policy for when reviewers should engage PRs, and shift focus toward mentoring contributors into effective long-term developers.
• Main new contributor goal should be to maximize learning during review; ensure rationale behind feedback is well understood and retained - yuval (paraphrased).

Nothingmuch

• Draft PRs for config updates Configure directory with config & clap #927 and Redis Replace redis with file based mailbox storage #915 removal are nearly complete; only missing some test cases pointed out by diff-mutation CI job
• Collaborating with Armin on Nostr bridging ideas.
• Once Payjoin Directory work concludes, plans to shift focus to multiparty Payjoin research and design.
• Coordinating with contributors on remaining open directory issues.
• 1.0 stability milestone also remains a high priority.

Spacebear

• Merged Dart GitHub Actions PR Optimize the workflow for dart CI #988 Enforce 1.85 toolchain in Dart/Python workflows #986 , which unblocked MSRV bump and allowed upgrading testcontainers.
• Found that testcontainers upgrade introduces flakyness for macOS CI matrix.
• Dart and Python CI pipelines now pass on master 🔥 .
• Triaged PRs with Armin on Thursday. Out of 29 open PRs on rust-payjoin, several have since progressed and merged. About 10 were merged.
• This week: return to Bull Bitcoin integration work and continue PR reviews.

Zealsham

• Blocked by implementation of request size limiter pj directory middleware.
• Service architecture makes inserting middleware non-trivial, though Axum may simplify the issue.
• Has two pending PRs that new review, especially the config saving PR payjoin-cli should have allow saving configs #896 .
• Spent the weekend learning more about Axum internals.

Zele

• Working to finalize sticky max fee-rate PR by addressing review comments Make max fee rate sticky per payjoin-cli session #934
• After that is in will submit a PR to allow overriding fees via CLI preferences
• Developing tests to ensure v1 compatibility
• And looking for some review on Allow building payjoin crate with no default features #964. Since this issue is not mission critical for our 1.0 milestone review is a lower priority.
• Writing documentation aimed at future auditors.

Tuma

• Planning to dedicate time to rust-payjoin.
• Currently studying Rust and Payjoin internals to ramp up effectively.
