Support Request: To Draw a Line with Length along with Annotations.

We are currently using the following packages for our annotation requirements:

• @annotorious/openseadragon: ^3.0.20
• @annotorious/react: ^3.0.20

This has been a fantastic tool, and we have been successfully working with it for the past few months. We have successfully implemented annotations; however, we are facing a challenge with one specific client requirement. They need the ability to draw a line on an entity to measure its length for scaling purposes.

Could you confirm if this functionality can be implemented using your tool? If so, we would appreciate any guidance or assistance you can provide.

Am I understanding correctly that you do not want to create a line annotation? But just have a tool to measure distances? That would be outside of the scope of what Annotorious aims to do. Instead, you could check the list of OpenSeadragon plugins. There are several for taking measurements as far as I remember.

the way we are able to draw rectangle boxes, if we could draw lines by click to click (first dblclick - starting point of the line basically x1,y1, second dblclick - ending point of the line basically x2,y2) will fulfill my requirement.

As I said: this is not a concern that Annotorious aims to cover. Annotations have a payload, a lifecycle, etc. What you are looking for is more of a drawing or measurement tool. See e.g. tools like: https://github.com/verrochi92/OSDMeasure

Thank you, Simon, for your prompt response and valuable inputs. I’m also part of Surya’s team, and we are using Annotorious to create annotations. To give you some context, we work with construction plan designs in PDF format. These plans are fed into an AI model, and we annotate them using coordinates from a CSV file, which has been working successfully so far.

Now that we have the annotated plans, we need to draw a line over the plan to measure the length of a pipe. Later, we plan to apply a scale to convert this to the actual pipe length. We understand that this feature isn't currently available. However, we are curious if there is a way to incorporate a scaling tool along with Annotorious.

Hi! If you want to do interactive measurement, do take a look at the link I posted. It should usually be ok (and safe) to combine a single OpenSeadragon viewer instance with multiple plugins (like Annotorious and others from the OpenSeadragon plugin list).

If, instead, you're thinking of that line as a permanent annotation that should get stored normally alongside the other annotations, then you'd need a line annotation tool. Such a tool is not currently available, but could be implemented as a plugin to Annotorious. If you are looking for an example: here's a circle annotation tool you could potentially use as a reference:
