These ideas are interesting, though you don't do yourself any favors by opening with "the editor is bad, try cloning some unrelated engine's editor". I'm interested to hear what the rest of the community thinks of these suggestions, so I've converted this into a discussion. |

Any input? I currently can't use the editor on phone and gamepad, it really is that terrible. I am not trying to disrespect the amount of effort you already put it, but the editor needs major improvements. Another thing about mobile is the virtual touch gamepad buttons don't pop up when in the editor. |

The editor is unpleasant to use currently with mouse, touch and gamepad.
Someone should look into how other mario editors work and how they handle ui and input with controllers and touch.
Some suggestions...
Ui should be snappy and easy to select objects, back out of menus, draw, erase, and reselect objects.
Things like layers and events need special considerations since these are nested menus.
The editor should be optimized for touch and gamepad input, since the moondust editor can be used for mouse and keyboard.
