Using Emacs 29.4 and transient, 20251115.6 cannot insert emoji anymore

After upgrading transient, when I insert an emoji I obtain an error I attach

emoji-bug-transient.txt

I.e.,

transient-setup: Args out of range: [transient-columns ...], 3

I have tried to keep transient backward compatible, just for the sake of emoji. Unfortunately that package abused some of transient's internal interfaces and there is no way to fix that in Emacs versions that have already been released. I recommend you update to Emacs 30.2. However, there is one known incompatibility even with that release; but if I remember correctly it only kicks in when using the mouse.

Thanks for you efforts and for clarifying the issue. Right now I urgently have to finish a (LaTeX) document, so I can't effort upgrading to 30.2, since this for sure will need some fine tuning, because of backward compatibility problems, sigh. I shall try this in a couple of weeks.
