Error querying OpenLibraryAPI

All book searches to open library API result in "Error querying OpenLibraryAPI: TypeError: Failed to fetch" error.

Occurs in Mac desktop and iOS from what I've seen.

And the search results is empty.

The network inspector shows a 429 response for my request. It would be better to display the actual status code to the user instead of the generic "Failed to fetch" message.

@tjoldani Could you try the latest canary version 0.8.0-canary.20260703T094912 and tell me if you have the same error? You can easily try this using the BRAT plugin if you prefer

@kazhuravlev you seem to be having a different issue since it's an error code 429 and not a TypeError, but still could you please also try the latest canary?

Edit: I believe I found the cause of the 429 error, it seems your current user agent is getting rate limited/blocked, if I remove the obsidian section (obsidian/1.10.6) it returns a valid response. My own user agent is also being blocked unless I remove that section

@ltctceplrm I get "Failed to Query APIs" now after selecting Book, adding a valid title, and clicking Search with a munal and BRAT install of the latest canary.

Thank you for trying the latest canary, the error 429 is apparently widespread so it seems the plugin is potentially being rate limited by open library. I'm trying to see if there's any way to solve this with openlibrary but it might take a while.
