Disabling notifications does not disable notifications

Issue

Even if I disable notifications from the settings, they just keep on coming.

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to Notifications settings.
2. Turn Enable Notifications off
3. Trigger a notification, like connecting a bluetooth device.

Can confirm that issue. notifications@cinnamon.org keeps nagging me with notifications although I deactivated them.

Confirming the same problem. Very annoying, especially since the notifications can not be silenced per application. For example I don't want Slack notifications because the Slack tray icon already indicates I have messages, so there's no need to show that again. So I prefer to disable notifications completely, but that doesn't work :-(

Same. I keep getting seeing "1" on the notifications icon, and nine times out of ten, it's just my mouse re-connecting after sleeping. Makes it a useless feature, since it's no longer worth checking for real notifications.

They haven't even assigned anyone to it. It appears they have no interest in fixing it.

In the meantime, I removed notification-daemon and the Notifications applet. I'm not sure if I needed to remove both. Theoretically, there are still useless notifications piling up somewhere, but at least I can't see them.

Having same issue, following are some of the notifications that pop up:

Bluetooth is connected/disconnected
When I minimize an app to tray for the first time
When I get disconnected and reconnected on OBS while streaming

Why not just remove the notifications applet from the panel?

I have not seen how. I have googled for it, however haven't found any ways to remove it completely from the panel.
I have disabled the notifications, but there is no option to remove it from the panel all together that I have seen.

I already have this unticked and still have notifications pop up on my panel. This doesn't remove anything unfortunately.
