questions regarding dell xx327 laptop battery

hello, i stumbled upon this repo from reading your blog post about hacking your laptop battery. i have a dell latitude e4300 laptop. the laptop will no longer run on battery power, and if i remove the power cord the laptop will die (shutdown/hibernate).

i disassembled the xx327 battery pack in hopes of replacing the 6 six 18650 cells inside the battery pack to prolong the life of the laptop.

however, if replace the cells with new samsung cells i purchased, will i have to use this software to reset any of the info in the BMS attached to the pack? or should i be good to go in just replacing the cells? (please forgive my ignorance, i just started reading about this a couple of hours ago).

also the circuit board in my battery is a bit different than the one shown in your blog post. however i believe it contains the same ICs.

as i was able to read some of the letters on one of the larger ICs on the BMS.

The hack on the BQ8050 wasn't finished entirely. Some parameters need changing in the controller after replacing the cells but I couldn't pass through its security with the conventional methods.
I think it's better if you just buy a new aftermarket battery pack. I did the same after a while.
It's a fun project to have but don't take it too seriously.
