Yep, there is quite a lot of discussion about it in #aarch64-laptops. AFAIK the maintainer of the kernel branch we are using has a T14s, he has a wiki here: https://github.com/jhovold/linux/wiki/T14s

The firmware on the 64GB version is a bit buggy, but there are workarounds. The kernel needs a workaround to boot consistently, the branch we are using already includes it: jhovold/linux@05db684

GRUB also has issues, apparently a patch is needed: https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-concept/ubuntu/+source/grub2/commit/?id=185e4420f7010c3cdd48ef2274a77f1a4e5e78c1
I would be happy to include that patch in this repo if you can test it.

So to summarize what I would try if I were you:

• Change the device tree name to qcom/x1e78100-lenovo-thinkpad-t14s.dtb here:

  x1e-nixos-config/flake.nix

  Line 20 in 349d1d8

  deviceTreeName = "qcom/x1e80100-lenovo-yoga-slim7x.dtb";

• Add the grub patch using an overlay.
• Build the installer, and see if it boots :) (First try USB-C, not sure about the current state of USB-A support.)

That's good to hear! I don't actually have the device in hand at this point, just considering. Price is really similar and I like the old school mix of ports on the thinkpad. Thanks for the overview.

I've set this up in my fork https://github.com/oryjkov/x1e-nixos-config and it indeed mostly works on a t14s.

If you're interested, would be cool to merge it, but we'd probably need to add some specialization for this model. A few things (like kernel patches, fw) are not needed while kernel params need to be different.
